We are pleased to share our research published on PubMed, which examines spontaneous spinal subdural hematoma (SSSDH)—a rare but serious neurosurgical emergency. This study evaluates risk factors, neurologic outcomes, and surgical treatment effectiveness based on our institutional experience and a comprehensive literature review.
📊 Patients Analyzed: 112 cases (including 4 from our institution)
👥 Gender Ratio: 1.3:1 (female/male)
📅 Mean Age: 60.25 years
⚠ Risk Factors for Poor Surgical Outcomes:
🩺 Bladder Dysfunction as a Predictor of Worse Recovery:
✅ SSSDH is more common in older patients (≥60 years) and those on anticoagulants
✅ Early diagnosis & surgical evacuation are crucial for better neurological recovery
✅ Bladder dysfunction should be recognized as a significant risk factor for poor prognosis

This research provides valuable insights for early detection, risk assessment, and optimal surgical management of SSSDH.
